3 Ways to Use a Payment Gateway

This video is found on Youtube and explains the 3 common ways to use a payment gateway. Remember that CardPointe IS a payment gateway so you can use it in the following ways.

1- API integration with a 3rd party software (like an ecommerce or shopping cart software)
2- Virtual Terminal (to take payments over the phone)
3- Hosted Payment Page (to give your customers a way to pay invoices themselves by entering card data directly into a secure hosted page)

If you have any questions about how to use CardPointe, just let me know!

Tip #1: Hosted Payment Page – Setting up Email Notifications

Within the CardPointe hosted payment page editor, you can send email notifications for successful or declined payments to any email address that you choose.

Why does this matter? Well, this means you can send payment notifications to your staff members, accounting team and others who need to know when a payment has been made!

The recipient does not have to be a registered user to your HPP account, so if you have a bookkeeper, this is a perfect application.

Tip #2: Virtual Terminal – Adding a Surcharge Field

You can set a surcharge field to appear in the virtual terminal by going to the ADMIN tab and adding the field under the Virtual Terminal Sub tab.

Here’s how you do it:

Click on ADMINISTRATION > VIRTUAL TERMINAL (subtab) then click to add the “Convenience Fee”

Note: You’ll want to pay special attention to the surcharging laws in the state your business is located. If you’re not sure, reach out to me and I’ll give you the details how to go about registering to surcharge with your CardPointe/CardConnect merchant account.

Did you know…? Our CardPointe video tutorial library is up to 27 videos now. Each month we’ll include tips (like the ones right above) highlighting certain features and functionality of your CardPointe account.
